Winter Ready DC Coat Drive Helps District Neighbors in Need

The DCPSC partnered with the DC Sustainable Energy Utility and Unity Healthcare for the Winter Ready DC Coat Drive in honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday. From January 8th  to 25th, each organization collected coats, hats, scarves and gloves to distribute to our needy District neighbors. Through the joint effort, individuals and families were able to choose from over a hundred items at the Unity Healthcare’s East of the River Health Center. Volunteers assisted more than 50 local residents in "shopping" for their winter items.  Coffee, donuts and sandwiches were also available.

During a panel, Commissioner Phillips addressed what the proper protections and policies to ensure that distributed energy resources aggregations participating in wholesale markets will not negatively affect efficient outcomes in the distribution system.

The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (Commission) launched its Third Annual Winter Ready DC Campaign in October with a Community Training.  The Winter Ready DC Campaign and Community Training provides the community with essential information about services available for District residents and steps to take to prepare for the upcoming winter.

Lifeline
 
The Lifeline Program (Lifeline) helps make telephone and broadband services more affordable for low-income consumers. As a program under the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Commission, Lifeline provides eligible subscribers a discount on monthly telephone and/or broadband service. The discounts can be applied to either a wireline or a wireless service, but customers may not receive a discount on both services at the same time. The FCC rules limit a household to one Lifeline service. Lifeline service helps to ensure that low-income consumers can afford telephone and/or broadband service and the access it provides to jobs, education and other opportunities.

DCPSC's Gas Pipeline Safety Program Receives 100% Rating Second Year in a Row
 
The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (Commission) received a 100% rating for its implementation of the District’s CY 2016 Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Program from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). The Commission provides oversight of intrastate natural gas pipelines in the District through annual certification and partial funding by PHMSA.

The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (Commission) received a 100% rating for its implementation of the District’s CY 2015 Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Program from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). The Commission provides oversight of intrastate natural gas pipelines in the District through annual certification and partial funding by PHMSA. Each calendar year, PHMSA’s State Program Office reviews and scores the State Commission’s Annual Pipeline Safety Certification and Progress Report.
