Winter Ready DC Coat Drive Helps District Neighbors in Need

The DCPSC partnered with the DC Sustainable Energy Utility and Unity Healthcare for the Winter Ready DC Coat Drive in honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday. From January 8th to 25th, each organization collected coats, hats, scarves and gloves to distribute to our needy District neighbors. Through the joint effort, individuals and families were able to choose from over a hundred items at the Unity Healthcare’s East of the River Health Center. Volunteers assisted more than 50 local residents in "shopping" for their winter items.  Coffee, donuts and sandwiches were also available.

DCPSC Chairman Willie L. Phillips stated that “The Public Service Commission was proud to partner with DCSEU and Unity Health Care for the Winter Ready DC Coat Drive. It has always been the Commission’s priority to serve our District neighbors in need.  Recent cold weather emergencies have reminded us how important it is to share our resources, and it was an honor to have been a part of the event.”
